Mountain Line and Air Quality Alerts
Monday, July 26th, 2010
Mountain Line will offer FREE RIDES after any air quality alert announcing “Unhealthy” conditions for everyone, using the 8 hour period average.
Mountain Line will continue to offer free rides when air quality conditions warrant it. Federal regulations for air particulate levels have recently changed, and the stages of air quality, from best to worst are as follows: Good, Moderate, Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, Unhealthy, Very Unhealthy and Hazardous. These categories will be announced for averages in 24 hour, 8 hour and 1 hour periods. Mountain Line will operate under the 8 hour period average only.
Here’s how the free rides on unhealthy air quality days program will work:
The air quality rating is updated twice each day by the Missoula City-County Health Department, at approximately 9:00am and 4:00pm. When the air quality is rated Unhealthy or worse, for an 8 hour period, bus transportation will be free of charge.
